I've been making jewelry for about as long as I've had my own shop. It's a great way to learn new machining techniques and setups, and sometimes something pretty comes out the other end.. It is extremely rare for me to actually make a piece /for/ anybody, and similarly rare for anyone to ever actually wear what I make. There are a few exceptions, though.
Below is a gallery of various rings and pendants made over the past few years, and assorted pictures of their making. Jewelry is one of the few areas where improved skill in the shop has not improved the quality of my work. Success seems to depend much more on the quality of my initial idea.
The pendants on the left were made in chronological order, right to left. The first two were made exclusively using my milling machine (puzzle, eh?) to explore an exotic setup. The last used both the mill an the lathe. Materials are 316 stainless steel, 304 stainless steel, and silicon bronze.
